The tattoo was inspired by the annual Mexican celebration, Día de Los Muertos (Day of the Dead), which is a time when families gather to honor and remember deceased loved ones. This design is an imitation of a person who is aware of his surrounding reality. The three faced woman is an illusion of a beholder who is moving her head from left to right to be aware of what’s happening in the surrounding. She is hanging her tongue around her neck because she knows that the tongue which actually symbolizes the speech of a person is the most powerful weapon in today’s world and with great power, comes great responsibilities. It can inspire, spread joy and express empathy. But it can also destroy and demean someone. Hence, the hanging tongue symbolizes that there are limitations to its usage thus the greatest powerful human weapon should be used wisely and tactfully.
